i just got the optimum ligature for my baritone mouthpiece(v16), and i went to put it on and try it out. one problem. when i tightened it all the way, the plate was about 1/2cm from the reed. theres probably a really obvious solution/im probably just doing it wrong, but i cant figure it out...

thanks for any help in advance.

The Vandoren V16 Bari mouthpieces have a SPECIFIC size for them because they are smaller than Vandorens typical HR Bari mouthpieces. A HR Tenor Lig will also fit on the mouthpiece.

Vandoren only claims the Optimum lig fits Optimum mouthpieces, so if you use it on something else you take your chances buying without trying first. A V16 is a different, and smaller piece, so it doesn't fit.

Vandoren actually makes a specific size just for the V16 Bari Mouthpieces. Gary Smulyan, and Dennis DiBlasio uses them on their V16's.
You could order one sized just for the V16 from wwbw.
