Having recently acquired a new in the box Antigua Pro One on eBay, I was curious about its origins.

I responded on Antigua's website and got a response in about a week…

RE: Serial Number 130101

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your support to Antigua Winds.

This ProOne tenor was manufactured at year 2019. Here is more product information on our website: ProOne TENOR - TS6200 - Antigua Winds
It's been around a thousand ProOne tenors on the market now.

Thank you and I hope the information above is helpful.

Enjoy playing the Antigua saxophone and have a nice weekend!

Yours sincerely,

Interesting info, so in 10 Years only 100 have been made per year on average.
I was pleasantly surprised that mine was recently produced in 2019 and was also a pre-Covid build!

I wonder how many pro Tenors are made by Yamaha and Yanagisawa each year?

Hey guzman, just now seeing this. He said, "It's been around a thousand ProOne tenors on the market now. ", not how many are made each year. If I'm reading this correctly, there's a difference.

Yes, how we interpret messages when they are not spelled out completely and clearly can be an issue.
Given the rarity of these unique Saxophones and my serial number ending in 0101 I think it’s safe to assume that the approx 1000 Pro One tenors is not representative of how many they made in 2019

Got an official confirmation - see below
Antigua says the 1000 or so Pro One tenors have been built since 2011. So about 100 per year on average

Bruce,

This is since 2011. Please note that this is just an estimated number for your reference. Thank you.

well, 100 horns a year is not a very small production, if you think that they produce only alto and tenor , a Brand like Rampone & Cazzani or Borgani make around 500 a year total and that includes several other types of horns , so, not bad.
