Hi all,
I'm not an expert at pricing horns and was wondering if I could get some help.

Ballpark prices for used Selmer Reference 54 in excellent condition dealer price and private seller price- suggestions?

Ballpark price for Selmer Jubilee alto excellent condition - dealer price and private seller price....Are pre-jubillee and jubille priced differently if condition is the same?

I can't seem to figure out how to find sale prices on ebay.

Thanks!!

On Ebay on the right side there is a column with boxes, for instance new, used, refurbished, etc. all the way down
the bottom there is a box for sold, click on that and it will show you the sold listings.

First, you have to specify Series II or Series III. Generally, Series III horns cost a bit more than Series II horns of the same age and condition.

Yes, my experience has been that there is a price premium for the Jubilee models, although you have to be careful with comparisons, because age is also a factor. Selmer is now about a decade into the Jubilee era. If a 5-year-old Jubilee II or III alto costs more than a 15-year-old pre-Jubilee II or III, it's likely that the age difference alone will account for some of the price disparity.

Here are some Selmer alto prices from PMWoodwind.com - Paul is a great dealer.

Ref 54 = $5195
Serie II = circa $4000
Serie III = circa $4500

OP, using these figures as benchmarks, if you shop carefully, you should be able to find horns in tip-top shape from private sellers for about two-thirds of these prices. In no event should you pay a private seller more than three-fourths of the dealer price.
