Not bad for only six weeks! i like the fingering chart stuck on the wall buy the way, ha ha.

And as for improvements i don't think at six weeks in it would be fair for anyone to say work on this, work on that.... just carry on as you are and everything will be just fine.....

Man, I've been playing for three years and I haven't had the guts to post anything yet. Kudos!
And I agree with everything kingsax says. Not in all circumstances, necessarily ...but in the post above.

You're on the right track, man. Make sure you practice long tones. They will do wonders for the quality of your sound. You were well in tune with yourself and I really have no other suggestions. Keep it up!

Lotsa Kudos in the comments so far and it's pretty well-deserved !

.....let me assume you wanted some constructive criticism as well, so here's some:

Positives:

~ Nice round tone....very good ! I can hear you are really blowing thru the horn most of the time.

~ Your phrasing for a beginner is good too...often it can be disjointed, staccato, letting the notes sorta 'fizzle' out. You are doing well, there.

Work on:

~ Your upper register. You are changing something in your mouth/throat. The upper reg notes are choking. This is a VERY common dynamic. You aren't confident up there, I can tell. Folks often tighten up their mouth/lips/throat/jaw etc. when they go up high. Work with your teacher on getting the higher register to speak w/o choking....try to keep it as warm and flowing and open as how you blow the low register.

~ Time. You sorta go in and out of time...adding a beat or two in order to get the phrase out. This is being picky...all in all, for 6 weeks, it's pretty good but a few times you lost the tempo and it went awry. This will also improve with practice....just would like you to listen to the vid again and again (counting tempo with your foot) and find, yourself, where this occurred. It's good practice.

Nicely done...and very forthcoming of you to post a vid so early. Keep it up....

Just six weeks? That's remarkable.

Henry VIII is said to have written Greensleeves. I think His Majesty would have enjoyed hearing your rendition, (particularly on the saxophone, invented three hundred years after his death) but he might have drawn your attention to timing :bluewink:

Keep up the good work
