I am more and more having to use mobile (thank you COVID) but having huge issues with the Debutante mobile style.

Most of the time lots of links don't work on iPhone (e.g. PMs, page navigation, subscribing. A lot of normal moderation actions are impossible.

I asssume this style just needs an upgrade, please @VSadmin can you sort this out. I often now go days without being able to access important PMs. I can sort of live with the overlapping badly formatted text, but links have to work.

Hi Pete, did you get this sorted by VS ? I use the vB4 original. Last few months site opens with some corrupt areas like this. iPad horizontally. If I turn the unit vertical it goes away either way. Not bothered just observing

Word. I suspect it's the same "enhanced mobile view" which my phone keeps switching back to every so often (one can exit the mobile view from the "hamburger menu" but it keeps resetting back).

The "enchanged mobile view" (typo, but i kinda like the mistake) is indeed nothing short of a trainwreck. It tries to behave like a mobile application, which it does very poorly while rendering normal browser built-in functions like opening threads in new tabs impossible, doesn't remember scroll positions, and is a confusing mess in general. The regular desktop vB4 theme while not "mobile friendly" is much more usable both on mobile and desktop than the "enrageing mobile view".

NB: This bug report is about Debutante, not the enhanced mobile view. Which I find unusable.

Debutante used to mostly be OK but now is not.

Specifically:

If I tap on PMs (envelope icon), I see the list of PMs, but when I click on one of them (ie the title of the being a link to open the PM) then nothing happens.
If I tap on Thread tools, then Subscribe to this thread, then Add subscription - nothing happens.
New posts list, the page navigation at the bottom does nothing so you have to scroll back to top to get to page 2. (Not as serious as the above bugs)

I haven't use the site on my phone for a very long time. I have A 6 year old iPhone 5. Mobile view is not user friendly. I just opened app on advanced mobile. Switched to debutant and tested everything you've having issues with. I didn't experience any trouble on anything. Just the past issue of part of right side being chopped off. That's why I had set preferences to enhanced mobile.

What kind of device are you using ?

Have you updated (or had an uncommanded update) to your operating system lately? My browser with my new OS does this. I switch browsers to get around it.

The ios is kept up to date. Plus I've actually had this for about 6 months and only now got around to reporting it as I now need to use the mobile a lot.

This isn't an ios issue, it's absolutely only a problem with Debutante-NEW

As an aside, PM’s do work on an iPhone. It’s what I am using most of the time. It won’t automatically open unless you tell it to open but not in a pop up.

Enhances view is trash but... mine switches back but only infrequently. When you clear cache it will revert back to it however.

I find the Tapatalk app great for accessing the site. I seem to remember you being against Tapatalk when it was being discussed, however might be worth a go?

I use my phone 99.99% of the time to view this site and all other sites (I won't sit at my home PC all day).

Anyway, I don't use Tapatalk, mobile view, or any other app. I always use "desktop view" on the sites I visit, including SOTW, and it looks and acts the same way as a PC or MAC. I see no disadvantages and I feel it's superior to the other methods.

My phone isn't that sophisticated, either - just an old Android (in the righthand screenshot, all content hasn't loaded yet!)

But don't you find everything really tiny? I did try the Desktop view on a phone, mine has a 6.5" screen, and I found having to zoom in and out all the time quite bothersome. I could blame it on my old eyes, I suppose, but I find Tapatalk so much faster and easier that I haven't bothered with browsers since.

My screen's image area is only about 2.5" x 5.1" -- a Motorola G6 Play -- so it's small as well. However, I guess I'm just used to it since I don't zoom unless someone uses one of those dinky face icons. I'm constantly surprised how my fingers hit the right links all the time.

I'm used to looking at camera and watch mechanisms and I'm nearsighted, so I guess that helps.
