I'm trying to learn how to play my tenor and my alto at the same time. any advice, or tips and tricks? I havent spent very much time on this so far, but I'm basically having trouble sealing my lips because there is a gap between the two mouthpieces. usually I can only get a sound out of one horn.

how far apart should the mouthpieces be in my mouth?

should the mouthpieces be parallel with each other, or at angles?

how the heck do you tongue!!!???

thanks for any help anyone can give! this is just kind of a novelty thing I want to learn just to see if I can do it.

Jeff Coffin of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones plays Tenor/Alto at the same time. I've seen him a couple of times on "Jam Sessions" on BETJ TV. You might drop him an email and ask the same question. I had a couple of questions after seeing him on tv recently, shot him an email and it began a good dialogue. He sure came across as a great guy. Here's the link to his web page: http://www.jeffcoffin.com/

That Roland Kirk mytube link is off the hook!

Good luck!

dude, you read my mind! Jeff Coffin is one of my favorite saxophonists, in fact I just put him in my avatar right before reading your post! (its about time I got off my butt and found an avatar). I saw him do it on youtube recently and thats what inspired me to try it, not to mention I just recently acquired a new Buescher TT tenor to do it with. for more sick JC playing, check this out. I loooooove that solo because it sounds so totally different from what Leroi Moore plays on that same song. I'm surprised I dont see his name very often on these boards considering the amount of talent and versatility he has.

Anyway I'm glad you brought up the idea of emailing him! I'll get in touch with him, I've been on his site a few times before. I'm glad he's cool about answering emails, I'm sure I'll get some great advice.

I cant hear the Roland Kirk link since I'm on a school comp right now, I'll listen later, it looks insane though. Reminds me of the video of Michael Angelo Brian playing both sides of a double guitar simultaneously.
