I know about the comparison tables, but...

Are Plasticovers 3 for alto exactly as La Voz Medium?

That is what the manufacturer says... but what about your opinions?

All the best,

I agree.

IMO a plasticover 3 is a little bit harder than a LaVoz M....maybe 1/4 strength. However Plasticovers do soften up after a few hours.
Yes, I have now the same impression. As Javas 3 seem to be a 1/4 harder than Plasticovers 3.

Plasticovr tend to soften up, that's true. I like them a lot anyway.

Somehow I keep trying to have all Vandoren setup... mouthpiece, ligature and reeds... They work well, but upper altissimo is not as good as Plasticovers.

I gave La Voz a try, but again... Plasticover for me.

Hi, got a question here, hope u guys can enlighten me a bit. Im using hemke reeds (3) and I heard great things abt la voz and give it a try. Its wonderful. However I went to the site (ricoreed.com) to read more details abt the reeds, it says that la voz reeds are unfiled for loud volume.. What do you mean by that? I heard of american cut and french cut. But filed? Does it means filing the areas ard the heartwood?

In my opinion, filing a reed does not make a whole lot of difference. I think they are maybe just a little easier to play, but thats just me.

Filed is the same as French cut (like Hemkes). The La Voz are unfiled/American cut.

Yeah I shared the same views with you. I tried filing it, it only help JUST a bit.
Always been playing using a USA made jazz mpc with a french cut reed setup. So trying american cut ones. La Voz is pretty good I must say. Better then plasticover, but it depends what sound you want. =)
