Curiosity beyond the all of duty...get a mouthpiece that you really like and one that you don't like so much and try the following:
hold the tip end up to some light and 'sight' down the bore end with one eye, trying carefully to center your gaze down the bore. You will see the tip just above the centerline of the bore. As you do this alternately with both pieces, try to ascertain which one has a tip nearer to the centerline of the shank bore (which will 'aim' straight down the horn tube when mounted). This is hard on sopranos, but easy on ATBB
