Good point Butters. It's the "cool" thing to hate on Kenny G if you're a saxophone player, just like it's the cool thing to hate on Kobe Bryant if you're a basketball fan, Derek Jeter if you're if baseball fan, Dan Marino if you're a football fan, Jeff Gordon if you're a Nascar fan. It's beyond stupid.

Being passionate about a subject will often result in strong negative feelings, as well. For example, A. Bourdain is supposed to have said that the worst thing he ever ate was a chicken mcnugget. Some folks think mass market chains are killing food culture, and that p1sses them off. Some people think Kenny G is a musical mcnugget, and get hot about it.
But the G is making music and making money at it. He is not robbing banks. Give the guy a break. I do not like what Kenny G plays (banal, vapid and insipid come to mind), but I am happy that he is making a good living and apparently enjoying himself as well as making lots of people happy who want to listen to him. Good for him. (I feel pretty much the same about Metheny's music, as far as that goes. Perhaps Metheny is more a Happy Meal to G's mcnugget.)

I don't listen to Kenny myself, but I KNOW I've gotten gigs for soprano sax because Jane Q Public likes Kenny, and wants to hire someone to play that golden clarinet thingy for her wedding. Ka-ching!

I don't care for Kenny G, I never listen to him voluntarily and even complained once in a restaurant because they were playing his music all the time.
But I don't have any problem with accepting that Good music is less popular than bad music. Lots of musicians are nothing else than craftspeople.
They might even have some ability to play but they are not artists they are just entertainers entertaining the general public in a way that this can understand and appreciate.
Kenny G is not the only one to do what he does and I doubt that even if he were to replace himself with..................(fill here the name of your favourite and much more accomplished soprano player) his public would switch to like that way of playing better.
Most people don't have good taste, education, finesse and like simple things, who am I to tell them they shouldn't?
Here a few other less than great artists....... I couldn't find any Fausto Papetti in video but the audio is bad enough!
