These were made by Pierret, France. Olds didn't make their own saxes*, they subcontracted other companies to do so (Pierret, Martin, Santoni, etc). They were made from around '58 - '75. By '63 they were called Parisian Ambassadors.

The fact that yours says Ambassador and also has the white plastic rollers puts it somewhere in the latter half of that timespan. So it'd be safe to call it late 60's-early '70's.

Yours is on the middle-later end because it reads "Parisian Ambassador", while the earlier ones just read "The Parisian"

....is the section here if you care to snoop around it a bit.

I do not believe anyone has published a serial number timeline of Pierret.

Some general info at http://saxpics.com/?v=man&manID=16.....but not too much info there, and quite honestly...STOP reading when you get to the conjecture part because, well...it is based upon almost nothing other than one guy's assumptions and very little fact or record....

Helen has some nice pics of Pierrets and Parisians here: http://bassic-sax.info/4images/search.php?sessionid=d762037c4a0a747e0855be1ad0a619e5

and some historical info here:

Good horns, very well-built and they sound really nice. They have a pretty low market value, though....an Alto maybe $400-450 in good playing condition, maybe $150 if needing work.

I'm working on it (as usual).

This is the lowest-serialed Parisian Ambassador I've seen thus far, and I suspect the Parisian Ambassador began production in 1960 or 1961 from what I've gathered.
