Back in the 1950s I bought an old Bb straight soprano which had the engraving " Palais Royale " - silver plated with gold bell. I have never come accross any other saxes of this make. Presumeably made in France ?

Can anyone shed any light on this make - perhaps a stencil ?

I have one of these Palais Royale sopranos for sale right now on ebay. The case, which appears to be the original, has the name of the J.W. York Band Instrument Company of Grand Rapids Michigan. I looked this up on Wikipedia and it said that this company manufactured band instruments from 1888 until 1973. I am assuming that the horn then was made in Grand Rapids.
