I want to change the pads on my selmer SIII tenor saxophone.
What thickness do you advise me? The thickness is for all the pads or varies according to the register of the instrument.
For almost all saxes (except some "vintage"), especially for DIY, 4mm, i.e. around .160"
Thicker pads can get you in trouble. You can make a thin pad thicker by using a bed of glue or even cardboard shims, but you can't realistically made a too-thick pad thinner.
