OZ ( Australia ), sax accessories, online purchasing experiences
Hi,
I'm new here, but i've already spent hours looking through the site. Thanks everyone (who reads this) for all your great contributions, its sounds like there is a great community around here!
Anyways, i thought i'd ask if there are any aussies out there who have had good experiences buying sax accessories from overseas.
I'm particularly interested in reeds, mouthpiece patches, maybe a ligature.
They are so expensive in australia, But it's hard finding an online store with good shipping rates to oz.
So in short, where do u aussies get your gear from?
Any good, cheap online stores with good shipping rates to oz?
I think the cheapest place so far is : 1stopclarinet.stores.yahoo.net
they are about $15 us shipping (but im confirming that price)

P.S.
I have a cheapo chinese alto sax, and soon will have a selmer c* (thanks pbob!)

I buy reeds from woodwind/brasswind every now and again. You have to order quite a few before you start saving money as there minimum international shipping is $40 - but when you're ordering sop, alto, tenor, bari, clarinet and bass clarinet in one go, with a couple of boxes of each you can save quite a bit. I've bought ligatures and mouthpieces from them too without issue.

From memory, Discount Reed Co. charge 12% of the total cost. Including that they still come in at about two thirds the Australian price - probably better now with the Australian dollar being stronger.

Junkdude have charged me US$8.50 for a small package (either one or two mouthpieces).

This information is on their websites.
