I have loved Lee Morgan's "The Sidewinder" for years and have heard a few tunes in a similar style, such as:
  • "The Turnaround" by Hank Mobley
  • "High Heel Sneekers" as played by Blue Mitchell and Junior Cook

What would you call this style - it seems to be a narrower genre than "Soul Jazz" and a bit different to the Latin-style of "Boogaloo" ?

Can you suggest any other great examples in a similar vein ?

All the best

Rhys

You are, no doubt, familiar with Morgan's "Rumproller"?
