relac, there may be traces of jewellers rouge under some key touches in a few places, unless I am imagining things.

The colour looks off for an original lacq Big B and its too shiny.
The engraving is filled in.
It especially looks like a relac in the photos of the back of the bow where the rippled dents are.

Relacq -- although carefully done. It's very near the same color mine was in 1972 before I had it plated. However, you can't make dots out of the engraving without buffing it after the fact -- something that's pretty evident in pics 3-8.

I don't think it's original, either, though it was well done & the horn didn't get buffed hard. Take a look of the pic with the serial number, for instance, the last two or three digits. They look like they got buffed a bit flat, even though the Buescher logo below is pretty sharp. The lacquer color doesn't seem right, either.
