Hello. I recently purchased this Florida Link USA on a trial period and I wanted to see if any of you can check it out and tell me if everything with the interior is ok. Unfortunately I am not very knowledgeable on mouthpieces and so i can't really tell from looking at it what might be wrong with it but I want to learn ore for sure. I can tell after playing on it for about a week that it is better then the modern links I have tried. It is a lot more free blowing. One thing that really bugs me however is that it sounds a little flimsy up on the high notes and the intonation for me is not the greatest but that might be to the fact that I haven't played a metal piece in a while. I should also mention that it was apparently refaced by somebody unknown, the original tip opening was a 5 but it got opened up to ".088. I got it froa really good deal (under $500) especially for the prices that Florida links go for these days which is good. I will put pictures below so you can see for yourself. Thanks!

It looks like the previous reface was done well cosmetically, and the baffle wasn’t hacked out, table wasn’t taken down a ton; seems like a safe purchase! The actually facing numbers could be a different story, and the only real way to tell that would be mail it off to someone to get measured. Being off a little bit could cause you some issues in the upper end. Tuning is a different story, depending on what you came from, reeds and strength, etc.

If you decide to keep it, feel free to send it to me at Tenor Madness for a free assessment and I can tell you what I see and think of it. Good luck!

Looks good to me, beautiful tip rails and baffle construction. But pictures don't reveal all.

Fully agree with what Jimmy (who is very knowledgeable mouthpiece specialist) wrote above.

At 88 its not quite a 6 but close. 6 is about as small as you would want to go. It might have been done by Jon Van Wie because the table appears to be dished which was his trademark. Only thing I see is a dented shank end which should be rounded out for the sake of your cork. Play around with reeds to see if you can get what you want out of it.
