Hi,

An old musician that is a friend of mine has a scoopbill Berg sms 100/2 for sale. I've never looked at Bergs since the eighties when I had an alto piece, also stainless steel. I hear that one can find good Berg now and then and after playtesting this one it seems to belong to that group. Nice, pretty warm sound with a core, downside being that I have to pull it out considerably compared to my Fl. Link.
The Berg feels a bit too closed and I wonder if stainless Bergs are harder than other mpc's to open up?

I've had both a stainless and bronze Berg worked on by Brian Powell. They're both harder metals than brass. He does charge more for the service as a result - but the results were fantastic, so I have no real complaints.
