February 2023 Original of the Month (OOTM) Challenge- Write a Love Song

Thanks to all who shared some original music last month!

Since it's the “month of love” (ooh la la!) with Valentine's Day, I thought it would be fun to write love songs- any style, any way you feel inspired. Sappy, sweet, serious, ballad, simple- you decide, just express that undying love! 💘

I have no idea what makes a love song a love song other than words/titles, and I don't do lyrics! So, if Love Supreme is a collection of love songs (which it is) then pretty much anything can be. This takes its inspiration from Coltrane and a track from the Disney move Soul called Bigger Than Us. Audio is just a dump from dorico. May try play this at my jam night next week.....

I think the jazz waltz is a great style for a love song because of its light and yet emotional feel. Sweet tune!

Thank you, Sonja, the lyrics are just a hair away from being embarrassing but I have to admit I was kind of proud when I wrote them (very long ago and far away). As for the sax part, I've been listening a lot to Toots Thielemans playing with Sting and he always blows me away with his lines that seem to have nothing in common with the melody until the last note when things suddenly fall into place and I thought, I can stay off topic in any discussion so why not apply it to music as well. Not that I am insinuating to follow in Toots' footsteps but in this case, I just let my fingers play, trying to block out any "rational" thought of what the part should sound like.
