hey guys,

just wondering what are your favourite solos from the omnibook? i played through koko and anthropology today (slowly). planning on memorizing a few over the holidays and was just wondering if there were any people thought were particularly worthwhile (obviously they are all brilliant, just asking if theres any standouts).

Fast Blues and Shawnuff. That little blues is great in the way he begins and finishes his lines. The ending is genius. Shawnuff has beautiful long lines and a great bridge.

A few more posts and we'll have the whole Omnibook covered!

It is truly amazing how many incredible improvisations Bird reeled off. The Omni book is only a drop in the ocean.

I agree. Each solo is so perfectly constructed, when I study them, I think "Was it really improvised ? Or was there any pre-planning or composition involved ?"
I know that Bird's mind was super-human but I also know that he worked hard (initially) at his craft.
