Most surprising thing about the Steve Moore video is the effect it had on his drumming career. Not that I don't think it's undeserved, just commenting on the power of the interwebz.

I'm really into some of the African harmonies and approaches, and am fascinated by how the resemble, differ, and fit into forms we're used to. If you haven't, listen to Ali Farka Toure (disk called Savane is great). For the other side of the spectrum, try Amadou & Mariam "Dimanche a bamako". All very cool.
