Getting the message "You have reached your stored private message quota and cannot send any further messages until space has been created."

I have cleared a substantial number of stored messages, yet the problem persists. This started occurring just after the changes to the Marketplace occurred.

Has something changed? What is the new limit?

Thanks,

George

Thanks. I searched the subforums but failed to understand what your subject line meant.

Nice to know that it got fixed for everyone else a few days ago - right about the time that mine stopped working.

The good news is that I cleared a lot of sent messages. Ah, spring cleaning... :bluewink:

P.S. Just tried to send this to Click and bombed:

Let's see if mine is now working.

This is a test. This is only a test.

Cheers!

Here’s another shot at seeing if this is working...

Good morning!

Hmmmm. That, too, failed. Maybe you’re right.

I received the same message yesterday. I then deleted several dozen old messages from my Inbox (that's when I realised that I had an archive of many, many messages, several as old as 2012) and now everything is working properly again.

I have sent you a test PM
Let me know if you received it.
Note that your "sent items" are also included in your storage.
You may need to delete some of those as well.

Thanks, Ed.

I have tried responding twice - a couple hours ago, and now - with similar (bad) results.

I have been experiencing this problem and deleting over a hundred messages from both my inbox and sent messages has not fixed the issue.

This entire business seems extremely strange.

Is there an explanation?

Why would there even be a limit? Storage is cheap...

Also no longer able to send messages as I supposedly suddenly reached my limit. As others have, I’ve deleted over a hundred messages and still can’t send and still get the same message, limit exceeded. I’d pm the moderators if I could. Please advise.

Still not working for me. I tried to email the admins but I'm not sure my messages got through to them.

Could you please provide some guidance for the limits? How many total messages (sent + received + stored) are allowed per account?

It is 250 for members who don't yet have marketplace permissions, 500 for those who do.

There used to be a higher quota for anyone who donated to the forum, but those would have expired as we don't have donations to VerticalScope, so that would be why people are suddenly finding they have too many.

It has now reverted to being the correct t amount.

Note that the quota is inclusive of both inbox and sent.

Pete, why is there even a limit?

I'm probably not the best person to ask, but I imagine the reason is to keep the database size down. Not that it would be a huge extra cost if everyone had unlimited number of PMs, but the bigger the database gets the more that can go wrong in updates etc...

Old PMs just become bloat.
