I've wondered the same. The cost to join is small - see https://www.saxophonealliance.org/join.asp - but I'm not sure what it gets you. The organization might be oriented toward academics. Their forums are very inactive.
I would say the primary benefit is access to conferences (the regional ones are probably doable for most people --usually a few hours' drive). They are jam-packed with performances and masterclasses and there are a lot of vendors, particularly at the national conferences.
The annual publication contains a wide variety of articles, some are very interesting to all, some are of interest only to academics.
It is largely (but definitely not wholly) classically/academically-oriented.
