My acoustic guitar playing friend and I are considering having a novelty acoustic King Crimson tribute duo. I usually play bass guitar, but would like to get the soprano out instead for this concept. However...
If it ever got off the ground and live performance was possible, would you expect/demand a bit of soloing in such a project, or would simply playing the tune be of sufficient listener interest? Bear in mind I'm not that good at improvising.
Given that this music is of complex and ambiguous tonality (with few 7ths and the rest), what approach should one take to improvising, in terms of scales for example? Plain minor and majors?
