Nice playing and great tune, but I prefer it as a jazz waltz the way it was written. The leader of our quartet used to introduce this tune as the "Photomat Song". I posted this joke on a British forum and of course no one got it. :) In a few more years no one in the U.S. will get it either.

Fun! You sound great, and it's nice to hear you on tenor, too.

Do you mind describing the process and equipment you use for laying down and mixing the tracks?
Thanks so much!

For this one, I used a drum track, then recorded a midi bass part on keys. Then, I recorded the sax part. For recordings like this, you have to plan out the roadmap so I knew how many choruses each would have. From there, I recorded the keyboard part (while listening to the sax/drums/bass part). For editing, I use Logic Pro to edit all of the audio, and for video I use Final Cut Pro. I layer the tracks on top of one another so they start correctly, then mute them and just have the main audio play. Crop/trim/color grade/etc. the videos, cut the beginning and end, and there it is!

You sound fantastic. I love these different versions you put out so much.

It’s a gift every time I see you put up a new video. I just can’t wait to open it and listen to it.

Thank you for that!

Great tune and great playing! For some reason, there's something about your tone that I like way better in this video than in most of the others. Did you change something with your setup?
Thanks! Nothing changed in the setup, but I did stand a bit closer to the mic and played a touch softer, to go with the "chill" vibe. Also added a little more reverb than other recordings, once again because of the tune.

Thanks very much for the detailed description - really helpful! But wow, you did a lot of work . . . .

Hah, thanks. It's simple with only 2 videos on the screen - this past December 1st I did an entire big band myself - 17 parts on screen at once! Now THAT was a lot of work...
