While cleaning out my basement I ran across an old WW&BW catalog from Winter 2001. The Guardala LT tenor pieces were introduced to "Be Available in 2002". Just got me thinking; why weren't there any LT alto/bari or soprano pieces ever made?

I once had a LT Guardala Crescent for alto which was actually a very good mouthpiece.

PMS makes LT alto pieces, I believe...King, Studio and New Crescent (Bebop/Trad and Florida are only available handmade).

I know there are some custom offerings out there but I don't know that WW&BW ever sold their version of the Laser-Trimmed Guardalas for any horn but tenor. I realize they might not be popular for alto and soprano since most folks don't seem to prefer high baffle pieces for these but it seems like a LT version of a Guardala bari piece might be well received.

The relationship between WW&BW and DG was a bit strained as the LT line was rolling out. The MB2 came out a few years after the other tenor models but that appears to be the end of the LT offerings from WW&BW. Their agreement with DG may not allow them to make other models or they never acquired examples of the sop, alto and bari models to copy in the CNC manufacturing process.

Thanks Mojo - that makes more sense. So you figure they started with the tenor models and the relationship went sour before they made anything for the other horns.

BTW, if anyone is wondering the WW&BW LT Guardalas are still a little cheaper now than they were in 2001- one of the few things in the catalog that hasn't had a significant price increase.
