Chad-LB has been playing on a new sax for some time, and I asked him about it over a month ago. He said he would have more details on it soon and he was testing it out. Well - today was the announcement! Not much for details yet but they are definitely coming soon. There is one picture of it, but the recent videos of Chad feature it! Check this one out:

A few hours ago I saw a live stream from Chad about the nexes saxophones, tried to open the link but he took it down already... So we will see it soon I think.
I actually started to watch it, but they had some technical trouble between youtube and Instagram, and switched to only instagram, which I don't use.
Sure is a lot of info available on that website lol
Oh yes, clearly the blank space is there for everyone to use their imagination ;)

Hopefully more soon, looks like it may come with a BSS heritage neck!

And, what kind of info did they put out there? The site is a little short on info...
My apologies, I was lacking detail. They didn't announce any details on the youtube video due to the technical issues, so I missed it as well. I tried to find the Instagram Live video with the details, but came up empty.

As for the intonation, I didn't notice much - chad being the beast of a player he is, I'm sure it's stylistic. Here's another:

Tracked down a bit more info:
Chad is playing a prototype.
Chad and Jack are starting the company together
Tenors will be coming first, followed by Altos.

Not much else yet, but Chad was playing on an SBA and MarkVI before, so hopefully it's up to his standard.

I'll update as I found out more

Thought he was playing a Lupifaro before, which is likely a Chinese sourced hardware finished in Italy?
He was a Lupifaro/Navarro artist - back in 2015. I asked him earlier this year, it was his Selmer horns he was playing again, I believe it was the MkVI

If you want to get a dead, dry sound it seems to be just right.

'Balls'? Saxes don't have them - its up to the player. In this case, none. Who would want a horn after a demonstration of a cardboard sound and intonation all over the place. The guy would probably sound better on a YTS-23.
Wow, I dunno if we are hearing the same things at all... The horn, the playing, the intonation... Chad sounds great as usual. Some of his recordings sound distant - but that's how they are setup.

I have heard many others say similar things about Chad's sound others - even when he was on his MkVI though. And they attributed it to the SYOS piece. I specifically remember someone saying he sounded like he was playing a kazoo, and I was baffled by that statement too

To each their own though, I think he sounds great, but maybe not everyone will/does

The website remains empty but I'm throwing out some other details since it's been a while:

They are working on a prototype mouthpiece, Nexus Mouthpiece.

They are now working prototype reeds, Nexus Reeds... I believe you can see both here:

I'll post moreas I find out!

Thanks for the info ptung - i wanted to clarify, the Eastman 52nd st never cliamed to be modeled after a 10m, only that it attempted to get the same sound. The information i posted in another thread about the 852/652 saxophones from Eastman was direct from Andreas Eastman themselves, they have ndeed changed factories from one in Taiwan (652) to a newly constructed, privately owned by Eastman, and for the sole purpose of making only Eastman instruments, factory in China (852), as they apparently wanted their horns to be the sole horns produced by the factory, and no one else can claim to have horns made at the same factory.

As an update on the nexus horns, there was a cryptic post on Boston Sax Shops instagram, as well as Chad-LBs instagram about news coming on the Nexus saxophones. Boston sax shop removed their post, but it showed various pictures of parts of the saxophone, which now features a Silver Bell and Silver Neck- ala King Silversonics. Here is the undetailed post from Chad-LB that just states more info coming soon, (and him doing more outdoor recordings!):

being nexus a connection or series of connection leading to another things maybe it would lead as far as China or Taiwan?

So many players showcasing so many of these new saxophones.

WHO is NEX (T) US? ( I don't mean who they are, I just mean who is going to buy one).
Well here? probably not anyone, but since Jack at BSS has the support of Chad-LB, he has a giant load of worshipers that will probably be quick to drop loads of cash on this. Smart pick up on Jack's part!

I'll be watching for pricing and info, but I have a feeling it'll be poised in a similar price range as other Taiwanese pro horns. Either way, hoping to see more details on it soon!

Sitting in on a Q&A this morning with Jack Finucane and hearing about the Nexus horns. There are 2 models planned in the Nexus release

The Nexus One - Bare Brass, No Engraving, Very Lightweight - This is the one being played by Chad-LB with a Silver Neck.
The Nexus Select - Bare Brass Body, Full Engraving, Full Pearl Inlays on all keys, Sterling Silver Bell/Neck - Attempt to modernize an S20 aesthetics (soundwise he says its still more Selmer-esque though)

Looks cosmetic to me.

I know that the CLB mouthpiece is one of the longest on the market, so probably not that much shank is needed to maintain contact.
CLB Mouthpiece? That mouthpiece is the brand new Nexus mouthpiece thats getting released with the horn.

As to why its tapered and cutout, I'd wager its also just a cosmetic change. Doesn't seem like it matters all too much, maybe they're going for a new approach to mouthpiece adjustment while on the neck.
