Wow, that's really impressive Alex. All the elements sound fantastic and you have captured the dynamics very well. I was listening through headphones and thought that the left/right split was quite pronounced between the percussion and yourself, but then this might not be the case through speakers. Also I thought you were a little low in the mix, but I might just be demonstrating a bit of pro-sax prejudice there! But then, as you say, this is not the final mix.

It is a very evocative piece. I was imagining all sorts of visual images, mainly landscapes. Is your project a soundtrack I wonder? Perhaps not, but I think it would work very well in that setting.

I really enjoyed listening to it, so thanks for sharing it with us.

Thank you for listening Bill. Much appreciated as are your thoughts and as if by chance I just received the following final mix of this track

https://soundcloud.com/alex-nyman-759436259%2Fin-my-world-final-mix
It's been developed on many fronts.

It's not been made as a sound track but rather just another track to add to the catalogue of tracks my friend and I have together for future release.

One of my biggest influences is Jan Garbarek and he has been for the last 40 years. It might be a surprise to know that considering how many smooth jazz tracks I've uploaded here :) so when tracks like this are in the offering I feel that influence all the more. I'm glad you felt the landscape imagery. It's good to know that this track has that evocative weight behind it.

Kind regards. Alex

Hi Alex,

I just had a listen to the latest two recordings you posted. I really enjoyed both of them. I must admit to being innately prejudiced against electronic effects applied to woodwinds, but the sound you have created on Inside Myself is so cool and funky that I might have to reconsider my position!

Ha Ha. Thanks Bill. I've been exploring the possibilities for a while now and each day I learn something new regarding effects. It's not the be all and end all but it affords me a very different perspective on my playing and what I can achieve. I do try to balance the FX tracks with the normal sound of the horns on other tracks....one normal one in the making completing tomorrow.
Thank you for listening. Very much appreciated as always. Kind regards and hoping all is well over the ditch there :)

All good on this side of the ditch. Although it does feel a bit like the whole country is starting to develop cabin fever!
