Great story; it made my day. Nice to find something in the news that is uplifting. I want to get this recording.

I saw Monk a few years after this (around '73?) at a concert in Oakland with Dizzy Gillespie. I was really blown away by Monk's playing; he had a funky, aggressive rhythmic approach that came across much more hearing him live than on the recordings.
