I purchased a Yanagisawa 901 from a private party recently and tried to tune it up. When I play a G two different tuners register the note as an A/A# (depending of course where the mouthpiece sits). It's been a while since I have played and don't remember fingering a G and it coming out as an A. A G is still fingered with the first three fingers of the left hand, correct? What can possibly be going wrong here?

Also, mine has only "901" as the model number stamp above the serial number on the back of the horn. The serial number is 00243111. Where can I validate this s/n? Would anyone know how to check this out for me?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

If you finger G on an alto, it will register Bb (A#) on a tuner, just as you did. Push your mouthpiece in about 3/4 of the way on the cork.
