hi all, i recently became exposed to some hardcore new orleans classical themes,
and i'm looking for some more new orleans famous masterpieces that is good to play on alto saxophone.

so toss everything you got!

uh ... yeah ... exactly what do you mean by "new orleans classical themes"? New Orleans jazz, R&B, rock, funk or something entirely different?

Yeah, what he said . . . New Orleans-style jazz, classical music played by New Orleans-based classical saxophone players, written music, recorded examples? If you mean real New orleans jazz from the original-jazz era, look for recordings by Sam Morgan's band, Papa Celestin's Tuxedo Orchestra, Jelly Roll Morton' Red Hot Peppers with Stomp Evans on alto, just for starters. Also Jimmie Noone's Apex Club Orchestra and Jabbo Smith's bands from 1929 used a lot of alto saxophone. DAVE
