I'm reading it now. It is very well written and very extensively researched through documents and interviews with people who knew and performed with Dexter. It does a great job of portraying the musical and cultural background of Dexter's career. It covers the high points of his life and treats the others sympathetically but without sugar coating. The book includes insights from Ms. Gordon's years with Dexter and from his writings that help convey his personality--she is probably the only one around who knew him well enough to do that so fully.
