The New Century Saxophone Quartet is one of the most musical ensembles I have ever heard. The more "sophisticated" classical saxophone literature they have recorded is a bit "out of reach" for many who are not familiar with that idiom, but their "Main Street America" album is accessible to most people. It has several selections that are perfect for introducing young players to the concept of sound that can be achieved in this type of ensemble. I highly recommend the New Century album, Drastic Measures. Very appealing mix of old and new-ish repertoire.

They are currently Cannonball-sponsored, which is unusual and interesting for a classical sax ensemble. I don't know if they were playing Cannonball saxes on the album I'm recommending, which came out in 1994.

I was taking lessons with Pollock 1992-5, and he played a Couf tenor; I'm pretty sure they all were on Coufs at that time.
