Hello. I need some direction on where to buy a neck octave vent pip and a body vent pip for a 1936 Selmer Balanced Action tenor saxophone. Any recommendations? I have a couple of parts for the body from Ferrees , both vents supposedly designed for a Mark VI or Mark VII. My horn looks like someone bored out both pips awhile ago. Might have been Oleg since the horn is from California and I have heard stories about him doing that kind of operation on vintage Selmer tenors. The horn plays well but I'd like to try installing the proper vents to see if there is any improvement or possibly it plays better with the more open vents. Thanks for any information.

I suggest contacting TenorMadness - Randy Jones has done a lot of work with Selmers over the years, and I know that he makes octave pip sets for Selmers.

You’re welcome.

When Randy set up my Ref 36, we talked about such things - and he is NOT one to promote drilling out pips unless there is a real necessity.

Enjoy that horn. I sometimes wish I still had my BA tenor. Sweet horns.
