I am a new member and needed some help finding out the model for a Buffet Crampon Alto Sax. I have been on there website and looked up the serial # and this is all the info it gives me.
Brand : Buffet Crampon
Instrument : BC 1102.NI
Serial number : 97993
Year of manufacturing : 09/12/1993
It is in excellent shape, and I wanted to try and sell it, but I am having a hard time finding out what it is.

Also all it says on the sax is Buffet Crampon Paris . BC, nothing else.

Can anyone Help??

You want to explore this site:
www.saxpics.com

It helps when doing research on an older horn.

Thanks

But I am still having trouble since it is a 1993. They have many on there and I think it may be a S1, S2 or S3 just unsure. I will try and upload an image so everyone can view

I think it's a Keilwerth stencil

Have a look at this thread: http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=56024

On that thread I said:

Have a look at the Buffet altos on Steve Howard's site, particularly the Buffet Expression:

That's a Keilwerth-made Buffet like mine. Same style brace and octave mechanism, which are different to the "real" Buffet S1 and S2.

My one has the serial number 95903 which makes sense as a Keilwerth serial number, but not as a Buffet.

If you get it alongside a Keilwerth SX90 or SX90R you will see that they are so similar that keywork is interchangeable. The bell brace on your Buffet is just a different component with the same mounting points as the Keilwerth. Same thing for the octave key.

They are good horns - as good as the Keilwerth SX90 !

All the best

Rhys
