Need cheap mpc for cheap sound

Hello,

May I humbly ask for a recommendation. I need a cheap (like two digits used) mouthpiece for a tenor -- a 10M from about '49 or '50.

What I'm trying to achieve is very wide note bending and very wide dynamics. Rock and roll tone. I don't need loud and I don't like centered. I play a fairly soft reed, like a Rico 2, but I'm willing to listen.

All you guys who think you need to inform me that better stuff costs more....Thanks, but I think I've got that figured out already. Just get me as close as you can. I'm never going to play as well as the average poster here and I'm never going to need the perfection that you guys need in your gear. I yam what I yam and tha's all I yam.

Please respond if you can help, or if you just want to call me an idiot that's okay too.

Thanks

If you want good sound at a cheap price go try a Rico Royal Graftonite at your local dealer. They're usually less than $30 and as low as $15.

If you want a cheap sound, ask the dealer for one of those mouthpieces they sell to kids who break theirs. It's usually a #2 or #3 no name.

You also need a cheap saxophone, send me your 10M and I will send you a cheaper one :D

Rico Metalite or Runyon Bionix both fit your description
I agree with Carl H's suggestion of the Rico Metalite. You should be able to find one for less than $40. I'd get a bigger tip opening as well, if you want to do a lot of note bending. Look into getting an M8 or higher. I play a M11 on Soprano as my main piece. It's a great mouthpiece for the money(I got it for $19), and it outplays soprano mouthpieces I bought that cost 10x as much as the Rico.
Another vote for the Rico.

The other option would be a cheap Chinese metal piece. Good luck with that though.

Actually, that idea has merit. Back in the Seventies when you wuz just a little boy, I was doing a lot of trading and trying. Just today I counted the number of horns I went through -- seven in total, and I never had What It Takes to get all that good anyway.

But the punch line is that almost the cheaper the horn was the more I liked it. Two 10Ms, average maybe $170 each, loved 'em. Martin Comm II, $300, loved it. Yamaha, King, some other pricey stuff, not so much.

Well, I found a 9 on a Google search and jumped on it. If I don't like it someone else will. Stay Tuned.

Those are pretty cool mouthpieces. I've got an M7 that I pull out periodically, although I don't think I would ever pull it out on a gig.
