D'you mean a 'snap hook'? These had a sprung section, which you pushed against the ring - it gave way and the hook slid into place. You had to depress the sprung section to release the hook.
Fastest way ever to wear out a sling ring.

Use the search function.
Type in Neckstrap or Metal/brass hook and I bet you come up with some interesting reading.

Well the problem has something to do with the amount of description you have given, how about giving more description of what you mean. First, have you ever seen what you are looking for? Is it made of metal, plastic, or some other material? What color is it? Does it lock closed? Etc... You will get alot more help if you give a bit more info.

i say again... NOT what i am looking for. I didnt realize this would be such a problem

Thats what the first one does,... the flap is gently spring loaded closed, it hooks on, then to release it you have to open the flap against the spring. My old strap was like that. I much prefer the new one with the dog leash type clip but each to their own.

Do you have a picture or sketch? Someone probably knows where to find it, but its like some sad parlour game to get to that point:)

You could always use a regular strap and just repace the existing hook with a small aluminium carabiner from a hardware store if all else fails

I know four they broke on, Charlie Rouse and Phil Woods. I had one for a short time and it broke I then went back to my tried and true old Ray Hyman. Vince Herring turned me on to the dejacques originally, I gave him hell when mine broke and he replied "That piece of crap broke on me too!"

P.S. Mine and Vince's broke at the same place, the "safety pin" metal that pops over the sax ring.

From their web site Tim Price uses them, ask him if he's been lucky or not.
