I'm in a new funk band called Naptown Funk, and we're having our debut performance this Friday night (April 27th) beginning at 6pm at Asbury United Methodist Church in downtown Annapolis (http://www.aumcannapolis.org/Default.aspx). It's their usual end of the month "jazz coffee house" and my other group (TBD) has played there several times. There will be food and donations accepted by the church (we forfeit our cut because they let us practice there).

This is a show band, and features two very, very good singers, male and female. The keyboard player is phenomenal as well, and the bass player an old friend and bandmate from TBD. We're lining up gigs and parties for the summer, and this is like a trial run to get our first performance under our belt.

This group is very talented and a lot of fun to play with. The female singer is absolutely gorgeous, sings like an angel and is as sweet as can be. Our keyboard player can listen to a Steely Dan song, and play it on the spot by ear. Rehearsing with them is a pleasure and it's nice to now have a couple sets good to go so we can gig. Sure there'll be some rough spots, but we should have a very appreciative (and hopefully forgiving) audience.
