Had good look at and play on a 103xxx Mk6 Tenor. British lacquer and totally correct.. However it doesn't have the "Mark VI" stamp on the front lower ring.. Any thoughts chaps? Regards
Douglas meant that the stamp didn't appear on the bell/bow ring until about 143k on the Euro horns. The US assembled ones had it engraved from beginning.
I just bought a 1956 Paris assembled and engraved MK VI alto 65XXX. There is no "MK VI" logo anywhere on the horn. (It is clearly a MK VI). I have heard this is not uncommon. Anyone else experienced this?
Unusual perhaps where you live, but in Europe it would be quite ordinary...........
It's been said many times on this forum but it still seems to come as something of a surprise to our friends on the other side of the pond that until the late sixties NO French assembled MKVI's had MARK VI stamped (or engraved) anywhere on the sax. No engraving was always an option and quite common in Europe.
