There is a cheap asian brand called Parrot. Terrible horns. For $1,500, you can get a totally redone Martin, Conn or Buescher and maybe even a Selmer Mark VII for a few bucks more. I sell a lot of saxes and the most expensive tenor I have had in the past 10 years is $1,500 so I know you can do better.

Bruce is right. Asian made and terible saxes! I think it's a "PARROT" and if I remember right it was made in China (PRC not ROC) in the mid 70's! There was also another brand from China called "LARK". Stay out of both brands if you are going to play on the saxes.

He is a bad picture of the PARROT. It's taken from a Swedish distributor catalog from 1977-1978.

I think a few 'photos would be very helpful. Usually, early Pierrets either had no decorative engraving, just their trade mark, address and model number or, on their later models, fairly standardised designs. So, probably not a Pierret. If this was a notorious asian "Parrot" why would jazzyblackbari's teacher want to buy it and why would the school turn down $1500.........many times it's cost new ? We await the pix.
