Hi, I recently bought a beautiful silver alto, but I don't know what brand it is?!? Ok I know that's dumb, but it was a good price & it plays well. The only identification I can find is a very ornate letter "B" on the bell, as well as some nice engraved flowers on the bell. Can anyone help? Photos are in my album. Cheers.

some time ago I think that a British member (can't remember who he exactly was!) was selling a silver alto with a big letter B on the bell, there was also mention of a particular brand but the consensus was that it was a Taiwanese or Chinese brand.

mikhamm, You have the exact same thread posted in two different areas. You should ask a moderator to combine them. Generally duplicate threads/ cross posts are deleted because they are against posting guidelines.

I don't see any links to your album. Where are we supposed to view the horn in question?

I don't really see why posting in 2 different areas is such a big deal, I can see it might be a tad annoying if you were see it in ALL the forum areas, but I saw an opportunity to hopefully reach many more knowledgeable people. So far I have been hugely disappointed. From what I've read on similar posts, all people can do is point to Taiwan for country of origin, like ALL unknown saxophones have to be "suggested" cheap, crappy saxophones from Taiwan (I have heard from several sources that P. Mauriat Saxophones are really quite good AND they come from where? Yep, that's right, Taiwan). So, is it possible that someone out there could actually help me in identifying my Pretty Silver Saxophone, which I and a friend of mine, who has played in the Norrbotten Big Band(look it up on YouTube) think is a very nice alto, with easy action & a nice sound. Oh and my thanks to "Saxmusicguy" on my "other" post, who actually gave me some useful advice, cheers mate. Please help knowledgeable saxophone people (Dummies please stay away)
You will make a lot of friends on here by calling people "dummies" before you even reach 10 posts. Since you brought it up as not being a big deal, I cut and pasted from the forum rules regarding cross posting...I'm sure you just overlooked this rule when you read the posting guidelines.

2. MESSAGE AREAS

There are MANY different message areas here. Please try to find the one that is most suitable to your topic.

Cross posting to several areas is not allowed, because that will fragment the follow-up comments and dialog. If you feel that your post needs to be in several different areas, PM a Site Mod or Administrator and tell him the Topic Name of both areas you want your thread in and then wait for him to determine if your thread should be posted in multiple areas.

Bumping of threads in any area of the forum is not allowed. There an element of instant gratification that seems to come with posting to a popular forum such as ours but it is sometimes necessary to wait for a reply.

If you cannot find an area suitable to post in, please post in the "Misc. Saxophone Discussion" area AND post a request for a new area in the "Topic Requests" area.

I was thinking the same thing, but in my case that actually may apply. :)

Jeez....talk about jumping right in with both feet. Mikhamm...please readjust your attitude when you return.

Now I know there are impolite Norwegians...I had never met one before....

Also, consider that when a member replies that they believe it to be Taiwanese or chinese...that is not a particular insult to you. They are just making their best assertion given what you have thus far offered....
