Hi

I bought a new tenor sax yesterday.

It's a Buffet Crampon 29**.

Other writing on the bell says S-A 18-20 Pge DuG-dCerf Paris France.

On another part of the bell it says sole agents John D. Dallas and sons Ltd. London.

I bought it from Oxford Allegro and in the 25 years Roger has run the shop he has never seen this sax before.

Roger's words to me were "This is the best sax on the shop".

The tone is beautiful, the sax is in tune and no where near as resitant as my Selmer SA80 II (which I'm now selling). The sax also has a G# trill key.

I just need to get use to the different fingering system on the sax.

Regards

Hi Saxland

That looks like the one although the serial number on mine puts it to the early 1950s.

I tried other horns alongside the buffet (selmer, yani) which were twice the price of the buffet. Yet to me the buffet was a far superior horn. I also tried an Antique horn which impressed me and came closest to the buffet.

I use an otto link 7* and 2 1/2 van doren Java. After playing a couple of hours yesterday I was able to get a sound on the sax I've never had before (I suppose the best way to describe it is creamy).

Previously I'd owned modern horns and to my ears those horns had a harder sound compared to the buffet.

Just got a Buffet SDA 71xx , 59" absolute speed, precission tonaly , waiting for a dukoff hollywood for her , suprised that a selmer 80 II was kept
while this one went , the tone blows me away!! These were the horns that were the competitors of the mark 6 along with the conn 10m rolled , I
play with a bril/eboline refit on my con , I think ( hope ) that the dukoff will give me more versatility , mainly jazz and realy cool subs. May work the reed
down #3 a fair bit , sit down and enjoy the Buffet , taste great!!
