Since when is "no sax" a criterion that makes the music worse? Do you mean a strong melody or a strong lead instrument? I actually don't see a sax missing here, at all.

I would, however, be interested in hearing the finished version, this sounds rather raw. More dynamics/rhythmic articulation on the keys would be nice (e.g. the left hand supporting the right a little more on accents). The glissandos sound a bit stiff. Is this computer made? The samples don't really sound completely well together, the bass kick sounds gated and a little disruptive. Add room, use another sample, or record the drumkit differently. The melody sounds nice but rather cliché - which is totally cool if that's what you intended!

Jazz House,

Very nice touch with your tune. I like how it has a natural flow into the B part and does not use an AABA form. This gives the tune more forward momentum. Nice changes too. I like it!

THe tune is ABA, which, as Roger has pointed, is a little different.

Anyway, this is just a preview (once through). In the full version, real instruments would be used (instead of me playing everything on GarageBand) and the sax would play the melody.

While all of us are sax guys, I suggest that we not get hung up on the instruments that are used in the recording. Jazz House asked us to listen to his tune and give some feedback. In a similar way, I'd suggest to Jazz House that he use instruments that are the best match for the spirit of his music. It's entirely cool if he uses sax. But, let the music have the vote on the instruments. That make sense?
