How wild would it have been to hear a duet between nonegenarian congo/bongo players Jack Costanzo (whose last performance was this month) and Candido Camero (who was performing at least as recently at two years ago when he played the Chicago Jazz Festival at age 95)?

Costanzo had a wild life story: http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com...-music-jack-costanzo-obit-20180819-story.html

There are some neat recent and vintage videos on youtube of Costanzo including this rocking thing by Nat King Cole backed by Benny Carter and a big band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peqXX8RU610

And here's a brief scene of Carolyn Jones playing the bongos on her balcony wearing a negligee. Costanzo taught her to play for the role: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFTz_-jTcgQ

Wow. Thanks for sharing this.
I first heard of him a few years ago when I got some bongos and started learning how to play on my own and with a Mel Bay book/CD. I went searching the internet for bongo recordings... "Jack Costanzo!!!" is still written on my whiteboard, along with tuning tips, etc. He flat knocked me out when I heard him play. I knew right away he was The Man.
I think it's sad that being Mr. Bongo ranks several thousand miles south of, say, Mr. Fender Stratocaster or Miss Dress Flashy and Shake That Thang. Mr. Bongo is kind of down there below Mr. Saxophone.
May his memory be eternal +++
