My new Barone HR mpc is 1/4 inch longer than the mpc I have been playing on in the past.....I play on a 39 Crat and the Neck is already curved farther down than modern horns..the problem I am having is that the mpc is lower down in my mouth and seems to be closing off ...I am thinking of moving the neck strap hoock down a little as that will bring the horn neck up highter and therefore the mpc will fit in my mouth the same as all the rest i have played ...any thoughts

That is also what a tuner is for.

I have found on my horn that when I try a new mouthpiece (of a different length) and put the mouthpiece where I think is right based on the previous (more familiar) piece, the horn plays out of tune and also does not sit right. I have to get the tuner out and find where the new mouthpiece plays in tune. Once I find the right postion on the neck, the horn also seems to sit in the position I am used to.

It is playing in tune as I have been using a Tuner but it is still a 1/4 inch further out than my Link was as Ithink the chamber of the Link is a little larger than the Barone HR thus the barone needs to be a little further out on the cork to play in tune...does this make any sense??
