Cool article. Did you try mixing toothpaste and baking soda to see if it removed some of the 'green' from the sax piece?
I know it helps a litte when my clarinet pieces get a little 'brown' with oxidization. :)

No, I didn't - mostly because the article focusses only on non-abrasive methods of removing the tough grime that builds up inside some mouthpieces.
De-greening will be the subject of a separate article, at some point.

I kind of figured that, but was just a little curious as to 'after' the decrustifying.
It would be good to know if your results are similar to mine.

I use a shotglass full of vinegar - I don't always get the greening.

Don't forget that it's vinegar in the shot glass and toss it back. *shudder*
By the time you remember it's already down... :(

That's the trouble, I don't think you can know if you will or not until it's too late. That's why I recommend the wad method.

Been there, done that.
I read on a forum that drinking cider vinegar was a good cure for certain stomach conditions.
