I just acquired a Morgan GM baritone mouthpiece, and am really happy with it.
The GM 6XL mouthpiece is a perfect match for my Conn baritone. It can do so much more than just give you a Gerry Mulligan sound, when pushed it is capable of a big ballsy Pepper Adams or Ronnie Cuber approach as well, all the while giving you flexibility and stable pitch in all registers. Especially if you own a vintage American baritone you owe it to yourself to try one of these mouthpieces, I expect you’ll like it as much as I like mine!"

I'd love to give one of these a try someday, but the asking price is too prohibitive for me at present.
Is the XL the same as the standard one but with a longer shank?
Or has it had additional chamber work also?
Thanks
No additional chamber work, it's just the extended shank, I needed that feature for my 1928 Conn bass sax and it is a great MPC but like you said, it is very expensive. On the other hand, It makes it so easy to play overtones / altissimo - I know, on a bass sax? But yes, sounds like a church organ.

I tried the Morgan GM XL. Great Mouthpiece. Unfortunately, the Chamber was not large enough with for a 1935 Martin. I ended up going with the Morgan Indiana XL which worked like the charm.

Both of these mouthpiece were beautifully finished. And just played.

Yes you can pay less for a mass produced mouthpiece but you are not getting the same level of quality. If you have to pay to have a mass produced refaced when you factor in the time messing around with something that does not work perfectly then you come to the realization that the best approach should have been to get something that worked right from the start.

I have an 8* (.105" tip in Morgan terms) which works like a charm on my Buescher Aristo "Custom Built" (1938; Model 139). I do not need the extra length on this horn.
