I nobody out there thinks that this is just a plain old sax that has nothing special, you really need to be shot!:a-run: :drunken:

This is indeed a piece that should be shown in a museum!

ZephyrSax,
I agree...that's the most beautiful bari sax I've ever laid eyes on....I'm nearly speechless. Wow!

How are the SBA's for intonnation?
That Holton Bass is the (almost) direct relative to the Holton Bari I am playing right now! VERY similar (within a few hundred, I believe) serial numbers, same extra keys, just lacquered (ok, bare brass originally), when the bari is silver plated.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I would be wary of the table keys on that beast. The ones on the bari are horrible enough already.

They are some of the best that you will ever play! I, as Gerri Mulligan, much more prefer to play the Conn Transitional Baritone, but if this was a conn it would no longer be on this website. But an SBA in This condition is extremely Rare!

I have a low "A" SBA and Mark VI... I would say the intonation on the SBA is actually a touch better than on the VI (they both have their idiosyncrasies but certainly are easy to deal with). My SBA is later though, without the "extension" of the earlier models (like the one in the first link), I'm not sure how that would affect things... The SBA's are beautiful sounding horns though...

Yes, it's fabulous. Somebody out there will be one lucky player!

Well, if I had an SBA, I'd tell you ;) ...I would assume they're pretty darn good though. Heck, if the Cigar Cutter I'm testing is this good...well, think of an SBA!!!

Hehe, I noticed, ChuBerry47, that you're playing a New Wonder Series I. I'm looking at one myself, for about $600. What's your opinion on it? Intonation? Keywork? Sound? Response? I'm so very tempted, but they're hard to find information about. :?
