Anyone who's followed Baltimore sports over the last few years has probably heard about Mo Gaba, a young man who battled various forms of cancer for his entire, short life. I remember him as a kid that called up local sports radio shows, and how he won over hosts and listeners alike before they even knew of his plight. That he was blind. He was crippled. And he was fighting for his life.

He went national when the Ravens had him announce one of their draft picks (he read the card in braille) on live television during the NFL draft. If you ever heard him on the radio, you'd be shocked at what his life truly was like. You'd never know he had it so bad. Always joyful. Always appreciative. And always a Ravens fan! (O's too!)

Thing is, Mo was calling into 105.7 the Fan without his mother knowing anything about it and was a regular. i must admit, I don't have a lot of patience for kids who call into talk radio shows, but he grew on me over time. And this was before anyone knew he was crippled, blind and riddled with cancer. Once that got out, he became a hero. He beat cancer a few times too, and he had nearly an entire state on his side. Then a few months ago, he got his fourth diagnosis. That it would finally kill him is the sort of shock of it all. Like in a just world, such things just couldn't happen. Like he was meant for better things. But for such a small child, what great spirit. A Superfan we can all be proud of. Someone we felt we knew, and loved. An unwavering fan, always faithful to his team.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but the Ravens created a section of the stadium that is all cutouts of pictures of Mo Gabba and titled it Mo's Section. It was very nice to see them do what they can since there are no fans there

Not only did they do that, but for the "BALTIMORE" painted on the endzone grass, they made the letters "MO" gold. I'm sure they'll show it a week from tonight when Baltimore hosts the Chiefs for Monday Night Football.
