Depends what I play. Overall, my favorite is my Runyon Custom, it works for jazz really well (which is what I mostly play on my alto). For rock or blues, either my Dukoff or my Rico Metalite.

I really dig my selmer scroll shank F, I was using a meyer but the selmer just sings!!!!
I'll second that. I use an E, and the sound is big, fat and sweet (just like swmbo).
The asking price for these pieces nowadays is enormous, but probably reflects the popularity.
Cheers, Dave

Just bought a '71 MK VI alto this week and wanted to get folks opinions on their favorite mpc and why. I'm currently using a Meyer 5
What kind of music do you like to play?

I'd say stick with the Meyer. The Meyer on a six is pretty much the standard jazz setup. If you need to add something to your setup try an optimum lig or some different reeds.

IMHO you don't need another mouthpiece.

..... Helen good to see you posting again . I hope you're feeling better.
Thanks Michael. I'm hanging in. Still have lots of neuro stuff going on, but I'm slowly on the mend. I've managed to do a total of 3 shows this year. I've got one more booked for December, and that's all I can commit to at this time. (Hope my neurologist doesn't read this. Otherwise my next appointment would look a bit like this: :argue: )

RPC 90R. It helps me sound like me.
(I did however play a Meyer 5 for 15 years)

On my 1955-ish alto ?-
An Otto Link metal 6* from about 1970.

Though I'm a tenor player, I'm happier with my alto sound.....
This combo sounds exactly like a
certain Mr Stitt some of you may have heard of.

nobody else playing Links?

Good question. Should have included that. I'm working on jazz standards, mostly a lot of Bird/BeBop stuff
I used for a long time a new Meyer 7M and more recently a vintage Selmer Soloist opened up to 0.85. Both are great mouthpieces. The soloist is darker.
At this time I am playing with a self made wood mouthpiece. You can hear it here http://www.hobbysax.com/Setup.html
I know it is not a nice sound file, but it is just to have a first idea. I should record a better one... maybe in the future.
The mouthpiece is the last one in the page.
