It was a great show. I'm going to get Mark back out to PGH to do a couple gigs in the fall, and I'd like to go into the studio and do a two tenor hit with him. So ya never know. We had a lot of fun, that's for sure.

Hey Nef, you really should check out some recordings by Roomful of Blues. At one time they had Duke Robulard on guitar and Greg Piccolo on sax. Fabulous stuff!

That must have been a blast Honkbop. I'm jealous.

Hey that's way cool you played with Duke Robillard also (and I guess I got his name spelled right this time). I saw Duke at Yoshi's about a year ago and I think he had that same bari player in your photo. He was a monster on that bari.

Duke´s bari player is Doug James (www.dougmrlowjames.com). Check out his CD "Blow Mr Low": http://cdbaby.com/cd/dougjames

He´s my favorite bari player, and he also played for Roomful, but a few years ago he left them and now plays for Duke Robillard. He has also done a lot of stuff together with my favorite tenor player, Sax Gordon Beadle www.saxgordon.com

I don't want to seem like I'm trying to hijack the thread, but Doug James is currently on tour with The Colin James Band, and plays on the new "Little Big Band 3" CD.

Johnny Ferreira, Sax Gordon, and Greg Piccolo on tenor, Doug James on baritone, and Rich Lataille on alto, played on the earlier Little Big Band albums. Steve Hilliam, a great tenor, is now on tour with Colin James.

Which is awesome BTW:D I think Colin James deserves huge credit for "carrying the torch" for classic blues/R&B/Swing sax playing!

I don't think the current tour is with the little big band - Doug was telling me that he did the tour in Jan/Feb, but that Colin is doing smaller group stuff now. I would have loved to have caught that show live!
